Meru
Meru National Park
About Meru
The park has been christened the “Complete Wilderness”. It is brilliant on a magnificent scale, the linked ecosystems of Meru and Kora National Parks feature luxuriant jungle, coursing rivers (13 rivers), verdant swamp, khaki grasslands and gaunt termite cathedrals all under the sky’s great blue bowl. Meru National Park boasts of the big five- Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Black Rhino. The herds of buffalo at this park are some of the largest in Kenya. Experience and learn about the culture of different indigenous communities (Ameru, Borana, Samburus) living around the park and coexisting with the wildlife. Little visited and utterly unspoilt, few places are comparable to the remote and rugged atmosphere found here. Visitors can see Grevy’s zebras, elephants, Bohor reedbucks, hartebeests, pythons, puff adders, cobras, buffalos and more than 400 recorded species of birds.
